Join Susan and Steve this winter as they explore the different Preserves that surround the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument. The Big Morongo Canyon preserve has been designated as an ‘area of critical environmental concern.’
This Preserve located in the transition zone between the low and high desert, packs tremendous biodiversity, majestic views, and the opportunity to hike through a riparian zone and critical wildlife corridor. Hikers will have an opportunity to complete an extended hike into the Big Morongo Canyon.
Trail distance will range from 2-3 miles for the shorter hike and 4-5 miles for the longer hike. Sorry, no dogs are allowed on this trail. Bring 3 liters of water, a snack to enjoy, wear closed-toed shoes, sun hat and sunscreen.
RSVP is required and you must bring your ticket with you for check-in 15 minutes prior to start time. Ticket reservations begin 14 days prior to the event. A suggested nonrefundable donation of $5.00 per person is appreciated and encouraged to support our volunteer programs. For more information contact Friends’ at 760-568-9918.
