They may not be rich and famous, but desert plants have evolved certain lifestyles that enable them to survive. Some plant species seem to disappear when it gets hot and dry only to return with sufficient rainfall in the future. Others stock up on water and save it so they can use it a little bit at a time. Still others simply go dormant, stop growing, and wait it out until some rain returns. And a few have become parasites mooching off some of the others and stealing their food and water. Learn about these lifestyles and some of the interesting desert plants that survive as a result of them.
