Long Canyon Trail Adaptive Sports Hike

  • Long Canyon Trailhead Long Canyon Road Desert Hot Springs, CA United States (map)

Join SoCal Adaptive Sports, Desert Recreation District and Friends of the Desert Mountains volunteer docents on a hike for persons with disabilities on the Long Canyon Trail. This is the newest trail to open in the Coachella Valley. This trail is part of Joshua National Park.

We will explore the area and learn about the Metropolitan Water district and how Los Angeles gets their water. We will then enter wilderness area where the desert plants show how they have adapted to the higher elevation. Trail is mostly level and very gradual elevation. We will hike about 3 miles total round trip.

Bring snacks, 2 liters of water per person and your hiking poles. Wear close-toed shoes, hat and sunscreen. Due to CDC guidelines, we will practice social distancing and mask is optional when outdoors.
