With the road closure to the Seven Pines Trail and poor trail conditions there, we have changed this month’s volunteer hike from Seven Pines to Lake Hemet.

Escape the desert heat as we explore Lake Hemet in Garner Valley. Robin Roberts with the Forest Service Volunteer Association of Idyllwild will join us to give a demo and discuss birding. We will then take a short 2 mile walk along the lake, with a discussion of the history of the lake and surrounding area.

Afterwards, we will enjoy the scenery, keep an eye out for the local bald eagles, and picnic. If you know a cultural or historical story of the Coachella Valley or monument, be prepared to share.

Bring binoculars if you have them, a chair, and lunch. Picnic tables and a restroom are provided.

An Adventure Pass or America the Beautiful/Senior pass must be displayed in all cars parked here.
