  • Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center 51500 California 74 Palm Desert, CA, 92260 United States (map)

People use umbrellas and shade hats to avoid the hot sun, carry jugs of water with them for drinking, and spray sunscreen all over themselves to protect their skin from damaging sunshine. Amazingly, desert plants use some of the same tricks to survive in the desert heat, maybe plant tricks are not exactly the same as ours, but they are just as effective. Learn about some of the desert plants that are super survivors and the various ways they are able to live in the brutal summer heat of the desert.
