To protect the health of our community and limit the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak, we have cancelled all events for the month of April. This event will be rescheduled when possible.
Come out to Joshua Tree National Park to explore some of the historic sites. Barker Dam Loop is a easy 1 mile hike. See Bill's handy work at building dams to capture water for his cattle. Don't miss the ""Disney-glyphs"". Wall Street Mill Trail is an easy 2.4 mile hike. This is where Bill Keys had his gold stamping mill as well as the site of the ""Last Gun Fight of the West"". Desert Queen Mine and Eagle Cliff Boulder House hike is a moderate 3.4 mile hike. Bill Keys bought this mine and worked it for the gold. There is lots of interesting mining equipment and shafts.
**NOTE: Upon approval from Joshua Tree National Park we will swap out Barker Dam for the Desert Queen Ranch, a strictly interpretive visit to the Homestead of Bill Keys. Check back for updates.**
We will meet at the Friends office and carpool from there. Bring a picnic lunch.
